After speculation surrounding LEGO’s latest collaboration, the rumours were confirmed 22 October – Daft Punk is joining forces with the brand.

The multi-year partnership is planning to span product, brand and content experiences that celebrate the legacy of both brands shaped by creativity and communities.

The official announcement comes shortly after a teaser video released to fans on the musical duo’s WDPK 83.7 stream showed a red LEGO brick, hinting at the idea of a collaboration.

A fan-inspired partnership

To introduce the partnership, LEGO and Daft Punk released a creative short film guaranteed to build excitement – the 50-second spot follows Daft Punk reimagined as LEGO figures as they make their way through a dark landscape. Eventually growing into holographic architecture, a partnership is confirmed.

Commenting on the two brands teaming up, Julia Goldin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group said: “What makes this partnership so special is the enduring appeal both brands share. Like the LEGO brand, Daft Punk inspires generations through creativity, innovation and a deep connection with fans.”

While celebrating its latest partnership, LEGO won’t be releasing the official Daft Punk x LEGO Ideas set until early 2027, which will be inspired by Daft Punk’s 2007 Alive tour set.

The initiative for this partnership dates back to almost six years ago, when LEGO held the ‘Music to Our Ears’ challenge in 2020 and a Luxembourgish father-and-son dominated the competition.

Now it is being turned into a real set that Daft Punk lovers can purchase, Patrick Harboun, owner of the ‘Daft Punk Concert’ submission said: “This all started as a creative escape during lockdown between my son and I because of our shared love of Daft Punk and LEGO building. We never dared imagine it would take off in this way.”

Julia adds: “We’re excited to build on these foundations to reimagine the Daft Punk legacy in a fresh and unexpected way, creating something unique that resonates with fans across all ages. This is just the beginning of a bigger journey – a creative collab made for fans ready to lose themselves to play.”

There is currently speculation around the fan-inspired set as to how similar it will look to the original submission, or if LEGO will use it as a foundation for its iconic partnership’s set.
