Gap owns Individuality with âDenim On Your Ownâ Campaign

Gap has become reputable for recognising emerging artists and casting them in its campaigns. With âDenim On Your Ownâ starring musician Malcolm Todd and actress Inde Navarette, this one is no different.
The Fall 2026 campaign centralises around the celebration of individuality with Gap Denim and ensures its denim collection is on full display throughout.
Gap is continuing to serve as a growth platform for the next generation of creative voices, celebrating emerging artists who are contributing to global culture through music, art and self-expression. Through casting up-and-coming stars, Gap is fostering authentic partnerships that spotlight new talent and celebrate individuality.
Distributed to physical store, email, out-of-home digital and social advertising, the rollout celebrates the next season of fashion and excites consumers for what is to come from the brand.
Gap is keeping off script
While traditional campaigns consist of the stars receiving an extensive brief on what to do, and how to stand and how to laugh – Gap does the complete opposite. The clothing brand gave Malcom and Inde one task and one task only – just have fun.
“From the moment we started filming the Gap campaign, it felt like we were able to bring our own energy and personalities to the campaign,” Inde comments. “There was so much freedom to move, experiment and express ourselves. That’s what makes style so personal – it’s about feeling confident in who you are and showing up as yourself.”

The campaign is soundtracked with Malcom’s rendition of Robyn’s record breaking ‘Dancing on my own’ which he was asked to specially recreate for this advertisement.
The hero film, directed by Tanu Muiño, follows Malcolm and Inde through a distinct set as they express their individual rhythm and style. The pair are grounded by a shared belief that personal style is one of the most powerful forms of self expression.
Fabiola Torres, Chief Marketing Officer of Gap highlights that Malcom was given full creative direction with the soundtrack. Asked to make the version suited to his musical identity, Fabiola comments: “That same spirit of making something your own defines GapDenim – a collection designed for people to find the fits and styles that feel uniquely theirs. It’s how Gap has connected with culture for generations, and how we continue to inspire originality today.”
Emerging artists – Gap’s strategically reactive approach
The ‘Denim On Your Own’ campaign follows Gap teaming with Hailey Bieber last month on a capsule collection and that followed its collaboration with girl group sensation Katseye in its ‘Better Than Denim’ campaign. Gap aimed to create brand awareness through collaborations with emerging artists who seem to be the main conversation across digital channels.
The goal? To connect with a younger audience and foster an authentic marketing effort. And it’s working. Partnering with artists who resonate with Gen Z and millennials has allowed Gap to create a relatable brand experience and align with cultural trends on social media.
These efforts have positioned Gap as an incredibly relevant brand and has led to significant growth in online traffic and sales for the brand.
After Inde’s box-office success in the film ‘Obsession’ and Malcom’s latest album debuting in the top 5 of the billboard charts, the pair are breaking into stardom as if it was natural – Gap are supporting this and celebrating their success.
Founded nearly 50 years ago, Gap Denim has played a pivotal role in Gap’s brand identity, creating styles that have become part of everyday wardrobes around the world.
Continuing to create such impactfully expressive campaigns is refreshing in a world that is beginning to feel scripted, as those on social media fear being seen making a mistake, Gap is continuing to bring a different perspective. The campaign celebrates unapologetic self-expression and combines this with music and fashion to bring yet another authentic marketing move to its industry.
