Channel 4 and Lloyds hand four Black-owned businesses £200,000 (US$269,620) each in airtime, plus a business support package

Channel 4, in partnership with Lloyds, has announced the four winners of the 2026 Black in Business initiative – with winners receiving £200,000 (US$269,620) in advertising, as well as a tailored business support package.

The four winners are:

  • Nala’s Baby: A family-founded skincare and haircare brand for babies and children.
  • Borough 22: A bakery that focuses on people with diverse dietary needs with vegan and gluten-free products.
  • Mumbrite, powered by The Motherhood Group: A community-driven organisation providing in-person and digital support services for Black mothers and mothers-to-be.
  • Tilz Collection: A food and drink company selling gifting products and speciality food items through wholesale and online retail channels.

“A gluten-free bakery. A baby products brand. A business providing support services for Black mothers and mothers-to-be. A gifting company from Leeds,” says Amanda Murphy, CEO of Lloyds Business and Commercial Banking. “These four businesses may look very different on paper, but they all have something important in common - the ambition to grow and the determination to make a real impact.

“Borough 22, Nala's Baby, Mumbrite, powered by The Motherhood Group, and Tilz Collection are each building something special, and it's fantastic to see them recognised through this year's Black in Business programme. By partnering with Channel 4, we're helping talented entrepreneurs reach wider audiences and unlock new opportunities for growth.”

Marketing support and business mentoring

2026 marks three years since Channel 4’s Black in Business initiative was created, which was created to tackle systemic funding disparities and visibility barriers often faced by Black entrepreneurs.

Research conducted by The Good Side, commissioned by 4Sales, previously found that 56% of Black-owned businesses only receive funding once they have already grown a successful business, compared to just 35% of white business owners who said the same.

More than half (53%) of Black owned businesses also agreed with the statement that they had to fight hard to get others to believe in their business, compared to 40% of white owners.

Alongside £200,000 (US$269,620) in advertising airtime on Channel 4, winners will receive a bespoke television campaign created in collaboration with production company Quiet Storm and six months of marketing support and business mentoring.

This will be provided by Lloyds, with the guidance designed to help the winning businesses continue to grow.

“We're incredibly proud of this year's winners,” says Sam Hicks, Head of Advertiser Strategy at Channel 4. “From helping families navigate the early years and supporting Black mothers to creating inclusive treats and curating memorable gifting experiences, these businesses are demonstrating what’s possible when purpose and entrepreneurship come together. They are building loyal communities, driving meaningful impact and telling stories that deserve to be seen.

“This is what Black in Business is all about, and we're excited to help these brilliant brands reach millions of viewers through the power of TV advertising. Combined with the expertise and support from Lloyds, we hope this is just the beginning of their next chapter.”

Business for Good

Black in Business sits within Channel 4’s Business for Good Initiatives, which also include a Diversity in Advertising Award and a B Corp Competition.

This competition offers five B Corp businesses a share of TV advertising airtime worth £600,000 (US$805,872), including a primetime linear ad-break takeover spotlighting each business – alongside educational messaging around the B Corp movement to a national UK audience.

Recent winners included Holy Moly Dips, Faith in Nature and SURI.

“We were blown away by this year’s shortlist – the creativity, the ambition, the sheer quality of ideas on show,” says Tom Patterson, Sustainability Lead at Channel 4 Sales. “Each business brought the B Corp spirit to life in a way that felt fresh and genuinely exciting.

“What stood out most wasn’t just the ideas, but how clearly they got the power of TV – to reach new audiences, fuel growth and help make more sustainable choices feel like the easy ones. We can’t wait to see these ideas brought to life on screen later this year.”
