Burger King France Launches âBoomer Kingâ Campaign

Burger King launched its 'Boomer King' campaign in France on 21 July, running it across television and BVOD in 10,20 and 30 second video formats.
Taking on a different style of campaign to some of its competitors, Burger King is aiming to bring back the charm of classic television to pay homage to older generations and evoke memories while giving younger customers fresh reasons to visit the brand.
Inspired by 80s and 90s TV
The launch blatantly nods to classic TV shows such as Charmed, Beverly Hills, 90210, Saved by the Bell and Knight Rider and encourages consumers to collect all the themed collectibles included in every menu.
Ranging from a Charmed mug to a Knight Rider T-shirt, Burger Kingâs new campaign embraces the nostalgic throwback with full force and excites customers with the prospect of reliving their favourite pop culture moments while enjoying their meal.
Burger King doesnât just stop there though. It has even reintroduced popular ginger ale beverage âCanada Dryâ and a new Galak King Fusion dessert, strengthening the retro themed ties to the menu.
Buzzman returns to bring the nostalgic campaign to life
Creative agency Buzzman is known for its unique and memorable campaigns, such as Uber Eats’ ‘It’s Good to Cancel’ 2024 campaign and Citroen’s ‘Elon Musk’ 2022 campaign – and its ‘Boomer King’ campaign is no exception in 2026.
Previously working with Burger King France and bringing its campaigns to life, Buzzman recreates the distinguishing look and feel of classic television intros. Tying together vintage-inspired visuals and nostalgic music with older versions of familiar TV-style characters, viewers are transported back to a defining era of entertainment in 10-30 second bursts.
Reinforcing its playfully memorable brand personality, Burger Kingâs âBoomer Campaignâ brings colour and vibrancy back into marketing and acknowledges the forgotten generations by celebrating the era of television that defined their youth.
Burger Kingâs shift in creative marketing
While positioning itself as a brand with creative techniques, Burger King is known for its reactive marketing and developing campaigns that reflect what is globally trending at the time.
A key example of this was its âWhopper of a Finishâ campaign launched earlier this year just in time for the London Marathon 2026, where advertisements were distributed across billboards and social media that captured real runners indulging in a Whopper burger immediately after completing their races, positioning the burger as the must-have meal post race.
Burger King UKâs Chief Marketing Officer Katie Evans adds: âat Burger King UK we seek out and celebrate genuine moments of true food satisfaction, and the people who experience them.â
To support its launch, Burger King enabled London Marathon finishers to claim a free Whopper at select locations, such as Leicester Square, and offered buy one get one free offers at its other restaurants in Central London.
So it’s no surprise that Burger King has jumped onto the trend of nostalgic throwback marketing, as big brands aren’t blind to the fact that the internet loves this style, but Burger King has done it in its own refreshingly self-aware way, separating itself from competitors.
Its unexpected throwback campaign has demonstrated how nostalgia marketing is far from cliché and is still a powerful strategy businesses can use to build emotional connections with customers.
Blending well loved pop culture with exclusive merchandise and retro storytelling, Burger King has transformed a simple meal into a refreshingly engaging experience that targets and appeals to many generations.
