Albertsons Appoints New Chief Marketing Officer
Albertsons has announced that Emily Turner has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer following a restructure of the company’s regional operating model.
In her new role, Albertsons says Emily will be leading the company’s enterprise marketing strategy across the key functions boosting customer growth and engagement, as it looks to reshape how it connects with customers.
She will also report to Michelle Larson, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer.
“Emily is a highly respected marketing leader with a proven ability to build customer-centric brands and deliver meaningful business results,” said Michelle. “Her expertise connecting with customers and leading transformational change will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen loyalty and build deeper relationships with the customers we serve.”
Retail marketing leadership
Emily holds extensive experience in leading marketing operations across the retail industry.
She joins Albertsons after close to two years as Chief Marketing Officer of The Fresh Market, where she established the company’s enterprise marketing function, while also helping to evolve its digital and customer experience capabilities.

Commenting on her time at The Fresh Market on LinkedIn, Emily says she was “filled with immense gratitude,” for the opportunity to work on “such an incredible brand,” while spotlighting the work of the company’s marketing team.
“Together, we built new capabilities, drove meaningful growth and reminded people why The Fresh Market is so special,” she says.
Prior to this, Emily spent two years at Dollar Tree – first with short terms as the Vice President of Marketing for Family Dollar, then as the Vice president of Enterprise Marketing for Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, before a year and a half stint as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer.
This role had a particular focus on customer experience, with a focus on building up omni-channel marketing strategies to drive growth and customer engagement.
A reworked operating model
Emily’s appointment follows a reworked operating model and a unified merchandising strategy for Albertsons – as the company looks to simplify how it operates and respond more quickly to customer needs.
In July, the company announced that it was consolidating 11 divisions into four regions, which it says will help it strengthen customer connections, better support stores and drive stronger results in specific communities.
This, Michelle says, is an “important next step,” for the company’s Merch United strategy, where the company is looking to unify merchandising to better support customers.
“By bringing centre store work together at the enterprise level, we can better leverage our scale, strengthen supplier partnerships and create more capacity for our regional and market teams to focus on fresh, local and the customer needs that make each community unique,” Michelle says.
Emily’s appointment is set to support these shifts, bringing her expertise in customer engagement to the forefront of the company’s new strategy.
“Albertsons’ brands are part of everyday life for millions of people. It’s a privilege to join a company with this kind of scale, heritage and heart,” she says. “There’s an exciting journey ahead as we help shape the future of modern grocery retail.”
