Don Jeter has been named Chief Marketing Officer of Abnormal AI as the company looks to play a bigger role in the cybersecurity market

Abnormal AI has a new Chief Marketing Officer.

The company has announced the appointment of Don Jeter – formerly the Chief Marketing Officer of Torq – as its new CMO, as the company looks to extend its behavioural AI approach to help secure how businesses are adopting AI.

“With attackers using AI to blur legitimate and malicious behaviour, and AI taking on real responsibility inside organisations, the question isn’t just who has access. It’s whether people and AI are behaving as expected,” says Don.

“Traditional tools can’t answer that. Behaviour can, and I believe that’s what makes Abnormal the defining security company of the AI era.”

Building bold brands

Before joining Abnormal AI, Don spent more than three years as the Chief Marketing Officer of AI SOC platform Torq, a brand described by Forbes as “unapologetically bold”.

Prior to that, he held a range of senior marketing roles at companies such as Symantec and Veritas Technologies, as well as leading global marketing at AI and Cloud marketplace Pax8, supporting the company’s growth from US$5m to US$1bn in annual recurring revenue, and grew the marketing team from three people to more than 30 globally.

In his latest appointment at Abnormal, Don will be reporting directly to Evan Reiser, its Founder and CEO, as he oversees the company’s global marketing team.

“Many security tools look for known threats. We look for abnormal behaviour, which helps us detect and stop previously unseen attacks,” says Evan.

“That approach started in email, has been extended to identity and is now the foundation of how we help secure AI.

“And as AI takes on real responsibility inside organisations, the question isn’t just who has access. It’s whether activity across identities and AI are behaving as expected.

“Everyone talks about AI. We’ve been building for it for years. Don will make sure the market knows it.”

Preparing for the next stage of growth

Abnormal first built its reputation in email security by using AI to understand normal activity, which allows its software to detect threats that traditional tools often miss.

Today, the company protects more than five thousand organisations – including 30% of the Fortune 500.

The company is now preparing for its next stage of growth and looking to play a bigger role in the market, by expanding its global presence and bringing its behavioural AI story to a broader audience.

According to Abnormal AI, Don is well known for his ability to challenge conventional B2B marketing – using bold messaging and an approach that breaks from the B2B industry’s typical playbook.

“As AI becomes more powerful, the risks go far beyond the agents companies deploy. Attackers are using the same technology to become more sophisticated, making it harder than ever to tell legitimate behaviour from malicious activity,” says Don.

“Abnormal built its behavioural AI approach to understand what normal looks like, long before this new wave of AI emerged.

“That foundation is how we protect enterprises as the threat landscape evolves. It’s why I believe Abnormal is the most important cybersecurity company of the AI era, and why I couldn’t pass up this mission.”
